programa de Doble Vía.
Ofrecemos enseñanza desde Pre-Kinder
hasta 5° grado.
Nuestra escuela se
encuentra en una lugar
central en la zona histórica de Heightsde Houston.
La
Agencia de Educación de
Texas (TEA) nos ha
nombrado como escuela “reconocida”. Dicho nombramiento
indica el alto
nivel de logro
académico conseguido por
nuestros estudiantes.
¿Qué
es el
programa de
Doble Vía?
Desde Pre-Kinder
hasta quinto
grado los
niños de
habla
hispana e
inglesa
estudian en
la misma
clase en el
Programa de
Doble Vía de
Helms.
Los
estudiantes
adquieren
los
dos
idiomas,
ingles y
español,
y
desarrollan
actitudes
positivas
hacia la
cultura
hispana y
norteamericana.
La meta
de Helms es
que al
llegar al
quinto grado
todos los
estudiantes
estén
al nivel
educativo más
alto
posible
en los dos
idiomas.

Helms
Community
Learning
Center is
dedicated to
providing a
nurturing,
safe
environment
for all
students,
parents,
teachers and
staff. In
order to
ensure the
on-going
development
and support
of a safe,
bully-free
school where
all
individuals
are valued
and
supported,
Helms will
follow this
specific
plan
throughout
the
2009-2010
school
year. The
efficacy of
this plan
will be
evaluated
throughout
the year and
updates or
additions
will be made
according to
the needs of
the school
community.
Multicultural
understanding
and
appreciation
must be
developed
amongst all
stakeholders.
Therefore,
the plan
targets
three groups
within the
community:
teachers and
staff,
parents and
community
members, and
the student
body. The
goal within
each
category is
to ensure
that each
person at
Helms takes
personal
responsibility
for
fostering
and
maintaining
a safe,
bully-free
school.

provides
professional
development
that
prepares
teachers and
support
staff in the
process of
integrating
the core
academic
curricula
with Tribes
strategies
that include
team
performance
and peer
assessment,
project
learning,
group
inquiry,
cooperative
learning
strategies,
conflict
resolution,
multicultural
appreciation,
research and
composition
projects,
and
reflection.
